Starting in 2008, this is the new one-week course for art students who seek to develop their skills in portrait painting. These life painting classes take place at Frøvik Gård, a beautiful Norwegian estate with an artistic history going back to 1881. Participants are expected to have fairly good drawing skills.

To celebrate the Norwegian artist Natalie Hollands participation in this years National Portrait Gallerys BP Award the Royal Norwegian Embassy hosted a champagne reception at The International Lounge opposite the National Portrait Gallery.

The reception coincided with the opening of worlds most prestigious portrait competition exhibition on Thursday 18th June 2009 which promotes the very best in contemporary portrait painting. From a record entry of 1,901 artists Natalie Hollands portrait of a young girl Agnes was selected for the exhibition which showcases diverse styles and techniques of contemporary portraiture painting.

Amongst the many guests enjoying the champagne and canaps as well as viewing Natalie Hollands work at the exhibition opening were Karin de Besche from Sotheby's, the worlds leading art business, insiders of the art world Peter Nahum and his wife Renate from The Leicester Galleries as well as a staunch contingency of Norwegian supporters, in particularly Anne Ulset, Siri Aronsen and Thomas Aaastad from the Royal Norwegian Embassy.

Through her career, Natalie Holland proved to be a skilled educator. She has taught a few of her own students at her studio, providing them with a true perspective on living as an artist.

During the past few years she extended her teaching to one-week art courses in Tuscany. These popular annual events is a result of collaboration between the artist and the Norwegian travel agency Inspiratour.

In 2008, Natalie started a series of new one-week workshops in Norway. She also held a lecture about her art projects at the University of Oslo, and similar presentations in her studio in London.

Natalie Holland believes that shared experiences through teaching is an important part of her mission as an artist.
